Progress reports sent to parent each marking period by SLPConsultation services are available to assist schools and other agencies in the effective use of evidence-based practices for Augmentative & Alternative Communication. Severe speech impairments often are assisted by including AAC as an augment to simultaneous speech work specific to the type of speech issue. Consistent agency-wide approach to AAC based on evidence-based practice can lead to communication benefits for all!
Consultation services are also available to parents in dealing with schools in which there is concern regarding best evidence practice service in speech & language/AAC evaluations/therapy. It should be noted that severe speech impairments often are assisted by including AAC as an augment to simultaneous speech work specific to the type of speech issue and are often ignored. If evidence of non-provision of FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) is apparent, I collaborate with a parent advocate/state mediator if needed can be called in to assist.
